Question by just asking: can i ask my orthodontist to take my braces off early? Unhappy with results…?
Ive had them 3 years. The tops came off a week ago. The bottoms have two more months. I am so disappointed by the top results (cement that wont come off even with professional cleaning, crooked jaw led to straight but slanting teeth, craze lines that werent there before the braces, a perma gap that the ortho said will never fully close) I dont feel like waiting two months for more bad results. I dont think anything can be done for my teeth short of cosmetic dentistry. People havent even noticed the braces are off. If they do, I can tell they are thinking “those teeth dont look very good for just having had braces”. The braces are already paid in full but I just dont want to deal with it any more. my teeth make me depressed. I tried to post a link to my teeth but i couldnt get it to work…will try again. and i know its not the orthos fault…he did four of my sibling’s teeth. i got the shallow end of the gene pool. : (

Stick in there!!!
If that link was of your teeth they look lovely and straight and if you’re really worried about the cement, demand that they file it all off for you. I’m sure they were better than they were before and I think those teeth in the picture look almost perfect to me!! =) Stick in for that extra two months because I’ve got braces and know lots of people who have them, and you can see a difference in just months. Your teeth need to settle as well before you get them off or they’ll go back to where they were!
Don’t worry =D

Cosmetic Dentistry Braces For All Ages
There are several factors you have to consider about cosmetic dentistry and the procedures it entails. Some people perceive cosmetic dentistry braces are for children and teens only. However, this procedure had gained popularity even for adults. If you have misaligned teeth, better resort to braces rather than wearing conventional brackets and traditional wires. This brace is comfortable to wear and fit in your teeth because it is custom made.
Braces are not only ideal for people of young age but for adults as well. Extractions have been made for adult patients. Because cosmetic dental brace is quite costly and some parents could not afford one for their children, they rather opt to seek cosmetic dentistry later when they earned savings for such needs. That is why individuals wait for that age when they are financially stable before undergoing enhancement of dental flaws.
The reason why dentist often recommend cosmetic dental brace is malocclusion or bad bite caused by some circumstances. Small mouth allows teeth limited position and space to grow that is why teeth become crowded that causes unwanted dental formations and structures. Pushing your tongue against your teeth may cause your frontal teeth to protrude thus; using brace can set it back. Misaligned jawbone structure can also affect teeth formation and alignment.
The difference between brace and retainer is that the latter acts like a brace because it helps the teeth to stay in proper location but it is good only for minor teeth problem and should be worn all the time, while cosmetic dentistry braces has a limited usage. There are general types of cosmetic dental braces to choose from that addresses different dental problems. The most favorite type of braces is the bracket. It is composed of thin wires that are set around the teeth. Bracket is made from metal, plastic and ceramics. The metal is the most durable while the plastic and ceramics are simply for cosmetic purposes. The trendiest one is the lingual brace; it is not visible because it is set at the back of the teeth.
Invisalign is the recent technology about cosmetic dentistry. A clear brace system used as new orthodontic treatment. This system can strengthen your teeth through the custom molded clear plastic. The advantage of Invisalign is that it allows patients to floss and brush normally to reduce the chances of building stains and decay caused by braces. No limitations necessary for Invisalign because it can be removed. This is an alternative option rather to indulge to painful braces. The invisible braces precisely explain the benefits about cosmetic dentistry. The comfort level and appearance factor are combined by the modern developments in cosmetic dentistry and cosmetic dentistry braces are the most common products used to correct misaligned teeth nowadays.

There are many people who are unhappy with their appearance in the world today. Some peoples’ teeth may have been unattractive for their entire lives, whereas others’ teeth may have aged and slowly become unattractive. For these reasons, many people decide to look into cosmetic dentistry. Cosmetic dentistry could be considered a dental facelift, changing someone’s appearance so that they look better and feel better about themselves. There are many techniques in cosmetic dentistry, from braces to porcelain veneers. More often than not, dentists use a combination of these techniques in order to achieve the best results.
The first method widely used in cosmetic dentistry is Porcelain Laminate Veneers (also known as veneers). These veneers are specially made porcelain wafers that can be places over teeth in order to enhance their appearance. Veneers can correct unappealing smiles, reverse the effects of aging, and whiten teeth. Many popular movie stars use veneers today in order to have that perfect smile. There are temporary and permanent veneers. People usually ware the temporary veneers while the permanent ones are being made. In terms of cost, veneers usually cost several thousand dollars, depending on the amount of teeth needing modification.
Teeth whitening is another very popular way to change the appearance of teeth. There are two types of whitening, in-office or at-home whitening. In-office whitening uses a high intensity light along with 35% hydrogen peroxide. The patient’s gums are protected, and the whitening process takes about an hour. The results are usually teeth that are four to six shades lighter than before. The at-home systems generally use between 10 and 20% carbamine peroxide. Impressions of the person’s mouth are made in order to make trays. The trays are then fitted and the patient is told to place a little bit of the carbamine peroxide gel in the tray and ware it while sleeping. The time of wearing this varies greatly from one week to six. Some people use a combination of in-office and at-home systems. This usually has a result of 12 to 15 shades of whitening.
There are three popular procedures to fix only a few unappealing teeth. The procedures for fixing select teeth are: tooth shaping, bonded-bridge, and resin or tooth colored fillings. Tooth shaping is when a doctor removes a very small amount of enamel from a tooth in order to shape it and make it more appealing. This is usually used for shortening long teeth, rounding off pointed teeth, or to simply make a smile follow the contour of the lower lip (which is more appealing). This procedure costs only to per tooth. The bonded-bridge procedure is used to replace missing teeth. The procedure usually involves taking out a small amount from teeth on either side of the missing tooth and then taking an impression or mold. From this, a bonded-bridge that can attach to the backs of the teeth on either side is made. There are resin-bonded bridges that do not fall out as easily, and there are metal bonded-bridges that are more expensive. Finally, people can get resin or tooth colored fillings. Resin is used to fill small cavities or a chipped front tooth. Resin instead of porcelain veneers saves money as well as time, but resin needs to be replaced every so often.
The final two things people can do in cosmetic dentistry are gum-lifts and braces. Gum-lifts remove gums in order to make teeth appear longer and eliminate a “gummy” smile. Uneven gum lines can make the teeth seem as though they are of different lengths that makes for an unattractive smile. The procedure is relatively quick and painless. Braces are the last, and most common, way to get cosmetic dentistry. Braces are placed on the teeth and can straighten crooked teeth, help fix over-bites, and generally create a more appealing smile. Braces are very time consuming, and costly, but are a great option for children. Some adults do get braces, but most opt for faster, cheaper methods. Braces run from ,500 to ,500, and require multiple visits to the orthodontist.
Cosmetic dentistry has been described as not a science but rather an art. Cosmetic dentists use many different procedures in order to improve their patients’ smiles and overall confidence. Some cosmetic dentistry procedures can be very costly, but yield great results. So, if someone has been unhappy with their smile for years, and does not know what to do, cosmetic dentistry may be the perfect option.

I think your teeth look fine. Unless someone is going to put there eyes right in front of your teeth you can barely notice any problems. Just wait and see how your bottom teeth come out.
I don’t know about the slanting teeth. They look pretty straight. But, I agree with you about the gap in your teeth. Isn’t that why you get braces? To close a gap? There’s got to be something he can do for that. If not, go seek a 2nd opinion. And a 3rd if you have to.
You can ask ur orthodontist to take ur braces off if you want, but ur mom/dad has to sign a waiver for them to take them off if ur parents are the one paying for your braces, but i’m sure that if you are 18 or older all you have to do is ask and they will have you sign a waiver and then they will take them off for you. I know because my mom and i asked about it when i had my braces.
