Everyone wants a nice looking smile, and one of the most effective ways of improving the quality of your smile is to make sure your teeth are looking nice and clean. However, sometimes just brushing is not enough and it can’t remove stubborn stains and marks. If you find that your teeth are a yellowish colour or have brown stains from drinks such as coffee or red wine you might have thought about teeth whitening before. Teeth whitening is a great way to brighten your smile and boost your confidence in your appearance, but it’s important to make sure you’re whitening your teeth in the best possible way.
It seems that you can’t browse the internet these days without seeing a quick-fox teeth whitening kit for sale. These kits tend to promise instant results that you can achieve at home, but they are often not as reputable as they could and should be. Not only are these internet home whitening kits likely to cost more than they should but there’s also the chance that they could also be damaging to your teeth.
The methods used to whiten teeth have improved a lot in recent years, as technological advances meant that dentists and dental surgeons were increasingly able to understand the inner structure of the tooth. They found that many traditional ‘cures’ for yellow or stained teeth were in fact damaging to the teeth. Old tricks such as sucking a lemon may sometimes make your teeth look lighter, but this is actually because the fruit acid is stripping away a layer of the protective enamel that coast the tooth. Dodgy internet kits are more likely to rely on tricks such as these to provide results, but they have a damaging effect on your teeth over all. This means that while your smile might look better initially, repeated use could lead to the exposure of the soft dentine inside your teeth and a permanent discoloured look.
When you choose teeth whitening at a specialist dentist, or choose to buy a home kit from your dentist, you can rest assured that they have the long-term well-being of your teeth in mind. Your dentist will choose a teeth whitening treatment that either involves bleaching your teeth carefully to lighten discolouration without damaging enamel or using oxygen gels to remove stains that have become embedded in the enamel.
When you decide to have your teeth whitened at the dentist you can rest assured that the preservation of your teeth is the upmost concern. Whereas internet kits merely want to satisfy you long enough to take your money.
