Question by zapzap: Dentist points finger at other dentist for my problem?
I had 2 dental implants done a year ago, had to wait for the healing process before the bridge was put in. Bridge is in the bottom back left side of mouth. The gum on the inside is always irritated a the base of the bridge base, dentist recomended to pull very back molar it was tipping forward root was not good, so I had them pull it, still I am in a light tooth ache pain type situation, gum is still irritated. I had 2 other dentist look at the crown (bridge) and they both said it should have been a straight walled bridge, food is getting down inside the gums keeping it irritated. The specialist that did the implants is blaming the problem on the bridge, the dentist that installed the bridge said “Its the implants”….The specialist is a member of the C.D.A. the dentist that did the bridge is not, he has basically told me to just off a cliff. When I got the 2 opinions of the dentists that said it should be redone, he called the dentist that installed the bridge claiming “She can’t get you to fix it, you are not a member of the C.D.A. so she is getting an attorney…..I received a horrible letter from the dentist that did the bridge telling me basically “You had better keep your mouth shut about my practice and the way I run it, and I will leave it at that”…I can go after his license but because of the cut backs in Calif. it will take over a year I was informed today…what do you guys rec? And thank you for reading this and helping me….

tropics – It seems that, at this time, you need to find a personal injury lawyer to help you proceed. Such lawyers usually give you an initial free interview to see if your complaint has merit and whether it is worth the time and any future monetary award or settlement in or outside of court. You’ll probably need to get an “expert” witness dentist to testify on your side.

Implant Dentist – Why We need them?

There are different types of dentists. For example, general dentists perform common dental procedures such as cleanings, fillings, teeth extractions, etc. However, some procedures require more specialized experience and cannot be performed by everyone. Dental implants are one such procedure. Implant procedure is usually performed by cosmetic or implant dentists. Implant dentists have a lot of experience in performing such procedures and many might even have advanced degrees or certificates which confirms their level of knowledge.

Implants are artificial devices that are used to replace lost teeth. If teeth sustain heavy injury or infection, they may be lost or may have to be dentally extracted. In such cases, the resulting gap can create problems for the patient. It may make it difficult to eat properly and also affect the overall appearance of the face. Implants are a good option to rectify these conditions. They not only emulate normal teeth in function, but also in the appearance. The crown built atop the dental implant looks very similar to normal teeth and it cannot be easily distinguished.

Dental implants are commonly made from titanium. Titanium is used to make dental implants because its properties are unique in many respects. Titanium doesn’t rust when kept in contact with water or other biological fluids. It is very durable and strong, which is important since our teeth have to undergo extreme stress and strain on daily basis.

Titanium implants are very sturdy due to the process known as osseointegration. When titanium is implanted into the bone tissue, cells present in the bone come in contact with titanium and create a bond without an interference of other tissues. Bone forms a mesh like fibrous network over the implant. This causes the implant to fuse with the bone thus making titanium implants to be very stable. The phenomenon of osseointegration was discovered in the 1950s and since then, dental implants made of titanium have become very popular.

There are other types of implants as well, but none of them are as popular as titanium implants. There was a class of implants known as fibro integrated implants, but there are no longer used.
