Question by Maggie: What would you do-bad experience at the dentist?
Today I had two cavities filled at a new dentist. They switched my appointment at the last minute, then I still had to wait over an hour to see the dentist. The dentist was the biggest jerk on the planet. He yelled at the assistant the whole time. Then, at the end, I reminded him that he said he would prescribe some prescription pain medication for me. I had explained when I got my X-rays that because of my MS I have very sensitive nerves and stomach ulcers as well (so I am not allowed to take NSAID’s like Ibuprofen), so my dentists and doctors always prescribe prescription pain medication for me, even for minor procedures. He had agreed at the X-ray appointment, then today he said that he didn’t remember and that he never prescribes medication for his patients. He then gave me a lecture on presciptions and on how dentists and doctors are the same and that I should say “physicians and dentists”. He also blocked the exit while he continued to lecture me on a variety of issues until I forced my way past him and to the front counter. He followed me and told the various people behind the desk that I claimed that someone had “promised” me narcotics (which is untrue, I wasn’t promised them and I didn’t claim I had been promised them). I was so angry that I just left at that point. Now I don’t know what to do. I still have three cavities that need to be filled and I pre-paid because I don’t have insurance and I got a discount that way. Should I just suck it up and go get the other three cavitites done, or go through the hassle of trying to get my money back and go someplace else? Are they required to refund the money for the other three cavities? Of course I am annoyed about not getting the prescription, but at this point it’s more about how I was treated, like I am a child (I’m 27, btw) and like my time isn’t important. I don’t want to reward them for their behavior, but I don’t know if going someplace else is worth the hassle.

i would not put up with that bs. get your money back and find a dentist that will respect you. you pay good money for them, you deserve to be treated well too.
