Question by k b: Question about dentures- in a young adult?
26 years old,and have just found out that I need my top teeth pulled, and an upper denture(poor enamel, thanks to illness as a child, and mediction, etc.). While I don’t look forward to that, I know that I have to have it done and have accepted that (I also have “buck teeth” and am looking forward to straight ones on the denture!). Also will have all four wisdom teeth out, the back molar in front of the wisdom tooth on the bottom one side, and the middle molar (first?) on the other side bottom. He said he would make a partial for me for the bottom teeth, but I really don’t want a metal partial in the bottom of my mouth. Do I really need to replace the last molar on the one side- the other one is fine- my mom only has one molar on the bottom each side. Then can I get an implant for the missing middle molar on the other side? I really don’t want to have a partial, I already need upper dentures..Would an implant work? How much would it be in Canada (or the USA) to implant that molar?
The uppers will be dentures, my question is if I would be able to replace the one molar on the bottom (the first?, the middle one) with an implant, instead of getting a partial. Secondly, do I need to replace the last molar on the bottom (the one before the wisdom tooth)? Why do I need to?

If you have to get false teeth, get THEM ALL not partials….

My daddy had falses from age 20 or so and does great with them! He is now 80 and has only had them replaced like 2x in his life!

I got partials and my dentist told me that only 17 percent people have luck with them or will wear them so he really took LOTS of time to ensure i would wear them. my brother wont wear his. I try hard to wear mine but im sick alot (fibro) and dont mess with them then, but other than that I DO! and then its like starting all over again if you havent worn them in a couple days….SO whatever your decision MAKE SURE you have horrible teeth that can NOT be saved but dont go with partials…not a good success rate on them. The only reason i got partials is that i have beautiful teeth, but my x was abusive and knocked out several and i couldnt chew…(ones you couldnt see)

Complete Dentures

It is conventional or immediate. a conventional denture is ready for placement in month about 8 to 12 weeks after teeth removal.
