Question by Radeitsu: what kind of pills will i get after my dentist “surgery”?
i’m 18, i have to go to the dentist in 6 days.
im scared shit less. why you ask?

i have to get 4-5 root canals, and get my wisdom teeth pulled…4 of them (if thats the usual number, idk lol).

so i was wondering. wut kind of medication will i get?
cuz i was reading online that some guy got hydrocodone for oonnee root canal…im getting 5.

Best answer:

Answer by grandpa walleye
You will get some stronger prescription medication. But if you have 1 root canal and are supposed to take 1 tablet every few hours, this does not mean that if you have 4 root canals, you will need 4 tablets evey few hours. One pill will take care of all pain.

Dentist-supervised teeth whitening Oxford involves the controlled use of carbamide or hydrogen peroxide, tailored to a particular patient. Oxford dentists may administer in-office treatments or at-home treatments. Before the tooth whitening treatment, most dentists clean the teeth, fill any cavities, and make sure the patient’s gums are healthy.

Most in-office systems use 15 to 35 percent hydrogen peroxide gels, sometimes coupled with a high intensity light to expedite the bleaching chemical reaction.

The in-office procedure involves the Oxford dentist gently cleaning your teeth with pumice and then putting a protective barrier on the gums. The Oxford dentistry professional then places hydrogen peroxide paste on the teeth for several minutes, rinses it off, and usually reapplies it several times. The procedure can achieve about four to six shades of whitening after only one 40-minute treatment.

At-home systems will often use 10 to 20 percent carbamide peroxide gels that also contain glycerin, carbomer, sodium hydroxide, water, and flavoring agents. Some gels that contain more than 10 percent carbamide peroxide will also include sodium fluoride to reduce sensitivity and strengthen teeth.

To begin the at-home procedure, the Oxford dentist takes impressions (moulds) of your mouth, and then has soft, custom mouth trays made. To administer the treatment, you put a thin ribbon of the gel into the tray and wear it for two hours during the day, or while sleeping. Most whitening occurs in one to two weeks. In difficult cases, trays may need to be worn for up to six weeks.

A combination of teeth whitening oxford home and office systems can achieve up to 12 to 15 shades of whitening in most patients. At-home systems used alone can obtain similar results, but may take longer. These procedures are considered safe and effective when monitored by a professional Oxford dentist.

Cosmetic dentistry oxford supervised systems have many advantages when compared to over-the-counter teeth whitening products. The main advantage of the Oxford dentist supervised system is that the dentist can help determine if tooth whitening should be performed and if it will be effective for the patient. Patients with decayed teeth, infected gums, white spots on their teeth, and multiple tooth coloured fillings or crowns (caps) on the front teeth may not be good candidates for tooth whitening.

The dentist can also help decide what type of teeth whitening Oxford is required (in-office, at-home or both) and the concentration of the whitening gels. The dentist can monitor and treat patients who experience sensitivity to the whitening agents and modify the procedure for those who are having difficulty getting optimal results.

Finally, the Oxford dentists can help the patient explore other cosmetic Oxford dental options the Oxford dentistry provides such as porcelain or resin veneers, tooth coloured fillings, gum lifts and tooth shaping used with or without tooth whitening. With the help of the dentist, the patient’s cosmetic dental goals may be more easily attained.

Can I whiten my teeth after braces?

Tags: , , , ,

Question by Stefie x3: Can I whiten my teeth after braces?
Ok, so I have terrible teeth but so far I’m getting my braces off hopefully by this month or next month but my teeth are kinda yellow but I brush my teeth 3 times a day like a normal person…I heard that you can’t get the laser whitening after orthodontic work but I also heard that you can’t. I’m kinda lost and all I know is that I want to have nice white teeth. Oh, and also, my mom smokes and dinks coffee every day so her teeth are kinda dull and she tried the whole “whitening strips” and it doesn’t work at all for her…I don’t know, maybe it’ll work better for me since I never do any of that.

so my question is:
Can I get my teeth whitened after having braces for almost 3 years? If so, how long do I need to wait to whiten them? And what type of whitening do you recommend (I feel like that whole laser thing works better)?

thanks
and I need answers, not bad comments ;)

Teeth Whitening Strips Versus Teeth Whitening Trays

In one corner offering you a better looking smile, you have teeth whitening strips and in the other corner, you have teeth whitening trays.

Which one is better for you to use? It boils down to personal choice, but there is some information you should know about both products to make an informed buying decision. and it is really important to be informed, so surf the web and you will find a lot of good sales and products.

Renata Nyleve Editor of the “Best Way To Whiten Teeth” website — http://www.BestWayToWhitenTeeth.org — pointed out;

“…Teeth whitening strips and teeth whitening trays both contain peroxide. The strips go on directly over your teeth. You can still carry on about your day even while wearing them. You can talk on the phone, you can run errands and you don’t have to interrupt your daily life to use them…”

To keep a nice, white smile, you will have to use them about three times a year, but even buying them three times is still a lot less costly than what your dentist would charge. The trays involve the same ingredients, but instead of adhering something to the teeth, you put the gel into a tray and insert the tray into your mouth.

In the battle over whether teeth whitening strips or teeth whitening trays are the best, the answer is clear. They are both the best.

“…The strips are the best for when you can not slow down but still want a whiter smile. Both products are easy to use and the low cost of either one will definitely make you smile…” added R. Nyleve.

The teeth whitening strips are the most popular kind of teeth whitening home products that are to be used on a regular basis in order to get proper whitening of the teeth. But the daily usage of the teeth whitening products may eventually result in certain side effects that can be of some trouble to the individual opting the strips. The strips are generally derived from the polyethylene material with a coat of hydrogen peroxide that acts as a bleaching agent for the teeth. The concentrations of these bleaching agents on the strips generally range from 6% to 10%.

Despite of the instant advantages of the teeth whitening strips certain disadvantages also occur as the side effects of the strips. The usage of the teeth whitening strips eventually results in the increased sensitivity to hot or cold food items. The reason being the inflammation of the tooth nerve because of the treatment of the bleaching agent is usually responsible for such irritability. In case of such increased sensitivity, an anti sensitive paste can be possibly used to reduce the sensitivity and thereby ensure the condition of the teeth.

Another most common side effect of the teeth whitening strips is the irritation of the gums. This may not solely happen due to the bleaching agent but rather on the usage of the trays to implement the bleaching agent. The edges of the whitening strips make the bleaching agent come in contact to the soft tissues of the gum and eventually results in the irritability.

Importance of Scaling in Oral Hygiene

Teeth form the most important part of the human body they not only play an important part in the digestive process but are the most visible parts when a person smiles. Improperly arranged cause low self esteem and may even lead to the onset of tooth decay. Improperly arranged teeth are loci for food particles and bacteria which cause bad breath and tooth decay. It is really important to take care of unevenly arranged teeth at an early stage of life else one is bound to lose the natural teeth or will have to visit a dentist quite often.

When one or more teeth are not aligned properly in relation to the adjacent and opposing teeth then this condition is called Rotated teeth. In this position the tooth has been turned on its long axis and is displaced out of its normal position. This results in an altered contact with adjacent teeth and creates a location for food blockage between the teeth subsequently leading to gingival damage.

This condition can be a cause for the onset of tooth decay and other related disorders thereafter. Sterling Heights dentist offers the most effective treatment for this kind of condition. Biomechanical principles are applied to correct this deformity. Lingual technique has steadily expanded and is being practiced by Sterling Heights dentist to cure this deformity.

Lingual technique involves the rotation of the tooth to achieve a particular level. Once the level is achieved the tooth will take the desired place thus uplifting the appearance of the face and leaving no space for food particles to stay and decay at that place. Rotated teeth can be derogated on its axis with the implementation of these techniques in a specific duration of time.

Oral hygiene is of utmost importance for a healthy living. To maintain proper oral hygiene one needs to brush and floss daily twice a day. Apart from these activities one should avoid eatables that are harmful for the teeth and visit a dentist at least once in six months. The general belief that is prevalent among people is that if you brush and floss regularly you teeth are in great shape. But this is a myth you need to visit a dentist regularly to check for any oral disorders which are not visible to a common man. While visiting a dentist like Sterling Heights dental care you will observe that the dentist will check your teeth for plaque and calculus which are breeding ground for bacteria which cause various infections and tooth decay in the human mouth.

Professional cleaning is very important apart from regular brushing and flossing to maintain a healthy set of teeth.

Periodontal diseases start with plaque formation. Plaque is formed below and above the gum line. Plaque causes inflammation and swelling of the gums.

Dentists at Sterling Heights dental use a scaling instrument to remove the plaque and calculus that is built on the teeth which cannot be removed by brushing or flossing.
Scaling helps remove the bacteria and foreign particles present in the plaque and tartar present on the teeth.

The process of scaling or removal of the plaque and calculus helps prevent inflammation and periodontal disease. If plaque formation is not stopped at an earlier stage then it may lead to serious consequences like surgery.

Generally dentists use a manual scaling instrument to remove plaque. These days many advanced scaling devices are available which use electronic or electrical mechanisms to clean teeth.

Scaling is advised by your dentist during your regular visits to the dental clinic. Scaling is an important process that has to be followed regularly to maintain proper oral hygiene and care.

There is a misconception among many people that scaling leads to the weakening of teeth; Scaling in no way leads to weakening of teeth on the contrary it leads to stronger bond between the teeth and gums.

Cosmetic Dentistry After Care ? How to Look After Dental Implants

Tags: , , , , , ,

Cosmetic Dentistry After Care ? How to Look After Dental Implants

Dental implants provide cosmetic dentistry patients with a long-lasting solution for replacing missing teeth. In order to keep your mouth healthy and ensure the treatment lasts as long as possible, they require special cleaning and care. You can treat them a lot like your natural teeth, but their care regimen is rather quite different.

The Basics Of The Treatment

This type of treatment involves a two-part installation process to ensure they remain solid and intact. First, the dentist will take molds of our jaws and install specially designed pieces of metal under your gums and against the jawbone. Once the prosthesis returns from the lab and the bone has attached itself to the metal, the oral care expert will then install a metal ‘connector’ and attach the top piece that resembles a natural tooth. This will require you to care not only for the tooth portion, but also forthe metal and surrounding area.

Special Tools For Cleaning Dental Implants

Because this dentistry appliance is installed in two separate pieces and they have additional spaces around them, it is highly recommended that you have some special cleaning tools on hand to keep them in top form. One of the first things you should have is a small dentistry toothbrush to clean in and aroundthe metal posts or connections above the gum line. Having a brush with a ‘reach’ feature or bent head is not a must, but it can definitely make them more effective and easier to use. Finally, you will need pieces of gauze or a specialized flossing system to help clean your gums, the posts, and the surrounding area.

Permanent Replacement Care

While permanent appliances are not meant to come out, the entire area needs to be cleaned. Depending on the number of false teeth you have installed and the style used, this could require the use of specific tools. The first step is to brush the appliance the same way you would your natural teeth. Because they do not come out, you want to be extra sure that the backs and areas between them are cleaned thoroughly. In addition, you want to be sure to floss in and aroundthe metal attachments.

Cleaning Tips For Removable Treatments

Removable dental implants make it easy for you to clean and inspect. You start by brushing all sides of the appliance just as you would when brushing your natural teeth. Before you put them back in, you also want to take the time to clean the posts or connectors until you are certain everything is completely free of debris or build up.

Regardless of the style, or whether you live in New York or Orange County, dental implants need to be checked at least every six months. This gives the dentistry expert a chance to ensure that everything is still in pristine condition and that they are being maintained properly. He or she will look for any damage and ensure the post is still firmly attached to the bone, check it for fit, and make sure the surrounding areas are still in good health.

My teeth are not very white after Zoom! dental procedure! What to do?

Tags: , , , , , ,

Question by Natasha: My teeth are not very white after Zoom! dental procedure! What to do?
I spent $ 600 in a dental office for Zoom! whitening procedure, and my teeth only whitened 4 shades (not very noticeable). I guess I was expecting them to be “paper white”, so I’m very dissappointed, especially since I have never smoked, do not drink coffee or any kind of soda. Has anyone had a similar experience?

Best answer:

Answer by spongebobrogers
Most likely, your teeth were already VERY white. Zoom works very well, it makes teeth several shades whiter. Depending on the cause of your stains, thickness of teeth, etc some people take more than 1 treatment. Sometimes they do 3 sessions, but it may just be in your head that they aren’t that white. I had white teeth when I did Zoom so I only got 4 shades of whitening also.

What do you think? Answer below!

Teeth Whitening Provides Easy Step Towards More Confidence

When asked about what the most attractive feature of a potential partner is, most men or women will list a good smile near the top. What exactly makes a good smile? How easily it is flashed is part of it, but how attractive the teeth are is also extremely important. Nothing makes a person look old or unattractive faster than ugly teeth, which is why the tooth whitening business is booming. By undergoing a very simple procedure, it is possible to make your smile look years younger and your teeth look much healthier and more attractive.

Because aging is a big part of the cause of yellow teeth, especially the buildup of stains over the years, the color of your teeth may date you as being older than you feel or wish to look. And, if you have dietary or other habits that discolor your teeth faster than average, your teeth may actually be making you look older than you are. Since nobody wants to look or feel older than necessary, whitening your teeth is an easy way to quickly uplift your appearance. The simple act of bleaching your teeth can make you appear years younger and increase your attractiveness.

It is important to note that yellow teeth are not necessarily any fault of your own and are caused by many different factors, including genetics, diet, and wear and tear. However, good hygiene can always make a difference in how your teeth look and having periodic dentist appointments is a very good idea. Aside from regular dental care, there are also other things you can do to maintain a healthy and attractive smile. These include practicing habits that can keep your teeth whiter, such as avoiding known tooth stainers like wine and berries, quitting smoking if you smoke or not taking it up if you don’t, and rinsing your mouth regularly after eating.

Good dental habits will keep your teeth healthy and relatively unstained, but you will probably still need to remove existing stains and discoloration and the yellowing that comes with age. For this, is is a good idea to choose one whitening product and stick with it. Experimenting by trying a bunch of different products is not a good idea because each product has different ingredients and instructions and you could cause damage.

The best whitening products to choose are the ones that are very similar to what a dentist would use. The Bright Teeth Whitening System is one of the best and very closely resembles the experience that you would have if you went to a cosmetic dentist. One of the notable things about the Bright Teeth Whitening System is that it has a very high concentration of carbamide peroxide. This ingredient is the actual bleaching ingredient that does the work of making your teeth whiter. By using such a high concentration, this system provides a higher degree of whitening than other systems. However, don’t get worried that a higher concentration could cause damage. Carbamide peroxide is extremely safe to use and is also FDA approved. This makes it the perfect candidate for using at home for convenient teeth whitening.

White teeth are considered a sign of health and attractiveness in our culture, making it very desirable to have shining teeth. At home whitening systems like Bright Teeth make achieving this goal very easy, especially because their free trial offer provides you with the system at no risk.

From One Place to Another: Tips to Finding Dentist after a Transfer

If you’ve experienced moving out at least once in your life, then you know the problem that it imposes. First, there’s the issue for packing all your things, transporting these then finally moving into your new neighborhood. Next, there’s the issue of adjusting in new transportation routes to and from work and finally, adjusting to the work environment itself. Most people find these events tiresome enough that most concentrate all efforts here and forget almost everything else.

For example, most people are so caught up in the moving that most forget about dental concerns while they’re caught in the process. In fact, most people forget about these concerns until they experience discomfort or pain and by then, they realize that they forgot to find reliable dentists after settling to the new area.

If you’re planning to move to Raleigh, North Carolina for example, it is important to keep all grounds covered especially when it comes to oral health. Before moving into the city, make sure that you arrange to meet a new dentist in case your new company doesn’t have dental coverage.  If you forgot to make the necessary arrangements, try the following tips to find a dentist in Raleigh.

Ask for recommendations in finding dentists in Raleigh NC. If you’re new in a suburban neighborhood it wouldn’t hurt to ask around for a dentist because this could be the easiest way to finding one. In case you visit the office and you didn’t like what you see, you can always back out and look for another dentist.

Inquire at your office for dentists in Raleigh. If your office doesn’t have dental services, it still wouldn’t hurt to ask your department directors because they can assist you with your concern. In case you have a medical clinic in your office, try asking the company doctor or company nurse because the medical community is usually tight knit and they could know someone.

Call your former dentist and ask if he or she knows some dentists Raleigh based. If you’ve exhausted all your means and you can’t find a dentist yet, call your previous dentist. Ask your dentist if he or she could give you information on colleagues that might be practicing in Raleigh. Make sure to write down the names of the dentists and the corresponding contact details.

White After Labor Day? Always Okay When it Comes to Fillings!

While truly not an actual fashion statement, having white fillings does look better when you smile or are talking. But how are they any different than the traditional metal fillings? Are they the right choice for everyone?

Let’s start with the differences between white fillings and traditional metal fillings.

· White fillings look more like your own teeth and are more aesthetically pleasing

· Metal fillings are very noticeable when you smile or talk

· White fillings can be used in most teeth

· Metal fillings may still be preferred for use in back teeth where chewing forces are greatest

· White fillings do not use mercury amalgams

· Metal fillings still use mercury amalgams, but the mercury has not been shown to cause any harm to patients

· White fillings can cost about 25% more than metal fillings

· Metal fillings can last about 20% longer than white fillings

Are White Fillings the Right Choice for Everyone?

Only your cosmetic dentist can make that determination. The type of filling used will depend on the location of the cavity to be filled, the durability and longevity required and, in some cases, the patients’ insurance company guidelines.

Generally speaking, a small cavity is more likely to be repaired using the white filling composite. In back teeth, like molars, the metal filling may be more appropriate since that is where the heavy work of chewing and crunching food takes place. But that isn’t always the case and a discussion with your dentist about your situation is highly recommended.

White fillings are quickly becoming a more popular choice when it comes to topping off that cavity. In most cases, they will probably be a very acceptable option to you and your dentist.

Just think of your dentist as your personal dental fashionista!

As of 4:20 PM, June 19th, 2010, the video has been seen 61758013 times on YouTube alone. In May 2008, 7-year old David DeVore Jr. was taken to the dentist to have an extra tooth removed, due to a hereditary condition called hyperdontia. Because this was David’s first surgery and his mother could not be there, his father decided to video tape the experience to share with her and their family. After the surgery, David was feeling extra loopy from the anaesthesia he was given. While in the car, he was asking his father questions like “Is this real life?” and “Is this going to be forever?” and also telling him that he had four fingers. Seven months later, David’s father uploaded the video on Facebook. Being overwhelmed with people wanting to see the video, he decided to
