The Ever Dynamic Field of Dentistry

Back then, paying a visit to the dentist was as a very unsettling experience a patient. The mere sight of sharp needles and tooth-pulling devices caused patients to almost scream their hearts out. Things were worsened by the patients feeling excruciating pain while at the hands of the dentists.

Things are different now, as visits to the dentist have turned into a pleasant experience, thanks to the latest advancements in dentistry practice. For years, dentists and researchers worked hard to find ways on how to bring dentistry towards perfection through innovation and discovery. Their hard work resulted to the development of new drugs and procedures in the area of dental medicine.

The use of media in promoting good oral hygiene by dentists has also come into the picture. Dentists are involved hands-on in the mission to make everyone aware of the need to keep teeth healthy. Some of the campaigns include the promotion of regular brushing, and the intake of vitamins and other nutrients that will help strengthen teeth and gums.

The Internet has also helped enhance the practice of Las Vegas cosmetic dentistry and other areas of dental medicine. It is now common to see dentists advertising their services by maintaining websites and pages on social networking sites. Information on how to maintain good oral health can also be accessed by everyone on the worldwide web.

Las Vegas cosmetic dentistry and other fields of dental practice have been enhanced further through the effective use of drugs. One of these methods is sedation dentistry, wherein drugs are being employed by dentists in order to lessen the pain being experienced by patients while undergoing treatment. This system is, however, being monitored closely by authorities in order to prevent dental malpractice.

The advancements being made in areas such as Las Vegas cosmetic dentistry are proof that dental medicine is a dynamic field. Through time, dentistry will continue to improve or even reinvent itself, resulting to efficient practices by dentists and greater relief on the part of patients. What may now seem to be a worthwhile dental visit experience may soon turn into something to something to actually look forward to, thanks to advancements in dentistry.

Technological Advances in the Field of Medicine

The advancements of technology in the field of medicine have given us everything from antibiotics to electronic imaging to robotic surgical techniques.  Without them we wouldn’t have early detection, prevention and new and better treatments to improve our quality of life and lengthen our lifespan.  Let’s look at a few technological breakthroughs in the medical field.

•    Anesthesia
Can you imagine going under the knife today without some sort of anesthesia or pain killer?  The idea first came about in 1846 when a dentist in Boston used ether to end the pain of much needed operations.

•    Vaccines
Vaccines have helped stop the spread of disease and in some cases eradicate it completely.  The first was Edward Jenner’s smallpox vaccine in 1796.

•    Medical Imaging

With the use of x-rays, CT scans, MRI’s and used patient monitors in hostpitals we are more than ever before able to locate disease and treat it faster.

•    Surgeries
You might eat well and exercise as much as you’re suppose to but when it comes to major trauma’s and life threatening disease, you’re going to be thankful of all the advances in surgical technologies.  With the help of medical imaging doctors are able to precisely locate the disease or trauma and remove it or fix it to get you back on your feet.

•    Prosthetics
The technological advances in prosthetics are mind boggling.  More and more people with a need for a prosthetic limb are able to get a device that looks and acts like a real one.  They give people their freedom and confidence back and allow them to continue leading a normal life.

•    Discovery of DNA Structure
DNA is the structure of molecules that carry genetic information from one generation to the next.  Genetic codes can give doctors the insight to predicting what disease your genes may be carrying.  Breaking down your DNA and being prepared for diseases that may be linked to you and your family will give you the head start on prevention.
These are just a few technological advances in the medical field and there are certainly more to come.

Carter Sinclair Cosmetic Dentistry: One of the Finest in the Field by Having the Best Cosmetic Dentistry Technology Available

Carter Sinclair Cosmetic Dentistry is proud to bring all the latest cosmetic dentistry technology to its patients. Carter Sinclair always sees to it that its patients are given one of the finest services with the latest available technology. These technological advancements in cosmetic dentistry help both cosmetic dentistry practitioner and his patients. Carter Sinclair Cosmetic Dentistry performs treatments and procedures more effectively and efficiently while lowering the cost of the treatment.

Dental Technology Available at Carter Sinclair Cosmetic Dentistry

Intra-Oral Camera

Carter Sinclair uses intra-oral camera to take up-close digital photos of your teeth. It allows us to get an inside view of any problem areas from a variety of angles, a feature that is just not possible with traditional X-rays. Images from the intra-oral camera are one of the key ways that Carter Sinclair detects abnormalities that require treatment.

Zoom!

Zoom! offers advanced tooth whitening systems that can whiten up to ten shades in just one chairside treatment which is perfect for the patient who doesn’t have time to do home whitening procedures every day. Using a specially-formulated, safe whitening gel, Carter Sinclair helps patients get brilliant smiles quickly and conveniently. A laser light is used to activate the gel and promote absorption, and a fluoride treatment accompanies all whitening sessions.

Implant Retained Dentures – Implant retained dentures are effective in retaining an otherwise non-retentive denture. Implant restoring dentist, Carter Sinclair, places a titanium screw into a hole drilled directly into the tooth. The titanium will integrate, or attach, into the bone after several months, and the implant is then uncovered and a post that pokes through the gums is attached to the implant. The post can support a porcelain tooth or it may support a denture attachment. If you have no teeth at all, a full mouth of implants may need to be attached to porcelain teeth and bridges. Implanted retained dentures are especially effective in patients who cannot wear lower dentures because the addition of these implants in the front of the lower jaw will make it possible to retain a lower denture. Without the implant, this would be impossible for you to tolerate.

Soft Tissue Laser

The soft tissue laser is being used more and more in the dental field because of its  many capabilities and benefits. Lasers can be used to complete a number of tasks, and are also incredibly safe and precise. The soft tissue laser can be used for gum recontouring, to remove decay, and eliminate infected tissue. A pulsed beam of light is used to manipulate gum tissue easily and with extreme accuracy. Patients enjoy less risk, increased comfort, and quick healing when a soft tissue laser is used over a cutting technique.

Dental technologies have evolved dramatically over the years transforming the field of dentistry. New technologies can help prevent, diagnose and treat dental conditions and diseases early and effectively. They also enable dentists to take better care of their patients by minimizing or eliminating discomfort and uneasiness associated with dental techniques.

Carter Sinclair Cosmetic Dentistry will ensure that you are properly educated and informed about procedures and the technologies that will be used to improve your healthy smile. The more involved you are in making your dental health decisions, the less room there is for fear and uncertainty.

As the older generation continues to grow, Seattle dentistry businesses will see the need for more workers in the field

In the past several generations, dentist work has not been required as much for the older generation since these types of people did not have many teeth as they entered into the later phases of their lives.  They did not grow up with the current knowledge of tooth care and oral hygiene that many of us have learned as common training as children and through our formative years.  Now that a new generation is starting to hit the elderly stages of their life, a Seattle family dentist and other dental facilities throughout the United States are starting to see the need for more dental care.

Employment of dentists is expected to increase by sixteen percent by the year 2018, which is much higher than the average expected employment increase in other job fields.  The United States’ population continues to see strong growth in birth rates and the older generation continues to expand; a Seattle dentist in these times will start to actually focus more on the prevention of tooth decay and preventative care for senior’s teeth issues, rather than patching up their dental problems at the lowest point as in the past.  Instruction specifically aimed on how to prevent tooth loss and decay has proven to be beneficial to seniors and those coming into the next generation of elderly patients.  Advancement in the technology of dentistry will also make treatment easier for the dentist and less painful for the patient.  Seattle dentistry businesses and other areas in the country will continue to see strong need for dentist and people in the dentistry profession, which is actually quite good for the economy at this point in time, considering the recent economic turmoil.
