Question by I ♥ Chocolate: Would it be rude if I posted this sign in the front door of my business?
Where our offices is located now, there used to be a Beauty School, and we've been here for 2 yrs now, and people keep walking in and asking what happend to the beauty school? if we know where they moved to and so forth. We don't know, and don't care. Would it be rude if I posted a sign that said "NO, WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT HAPPEND TO THE BEAUTY SCHOOL, AND DON'T KNOW WHERE THEY MOVED TOO. AND NO, THIS IS NOT A DOCTOR'S/DENTIST OFFICE!"
Well we don't have people coming in, because we do not sell anything, it's just an office. The only people that come and go is my employees.
I also tried closing and locking the doors, so they wont come in and ask. But they keep knocking the door, and shouting "Hello!! open the door, I want to enroll!!" Ugghhh soo annoying!
No I have a BIG sign w/ my business name, the office space was remodeled.

That would be rude. You just gotta deal.
Instead maybe talk with higher-ups about installing more prominent signage for your company (like right on the entry door?).

Bringing Serenity to the Dentist Office With a Wall Fountain

Going to the Dentist is as big of fear as visiting the Doctor's office for some people so as a dentist or the manager of a dental practice I am sure you are always trying to find ways to ease the patient's mind and make the visit to the dentist a more positive experience and leave a good impression so in their mind there is no question that you are the dentist they will keep coming back to regularly.
Just as in any business, the place to make an impression is when they first walk in to your dental office. I am sure you already have smiling people at the front desk and exceptional service as most do so what can you do to make your greeting and waiting area stand out? Have you thought about a wall fountain or custom water fountain? Both have been gaining in popularity the past couple years and are often incorporated into new practices when the design and construction is being done. Wall fountains are both, very easy to hang and care for and the investment you make in one will be well worth the money. A custom water fountain or wall hanging fountain can be hung on any finished wall at any time, not just in a new construction.
You will find that with the variety of styles and sizes, wall fountains are very versatile. A very common combination is a slate face with a copper frame or if you have a more contemporary decorating style in the office, stainless steel and a mirrored face looks just as stunning. Any wall fountain can also have your logo added so that the it can function as both a beautiful art piece as well as your business sign. If you don't have the space for a wall fountain, try a floor standing water feature! We recently built a large custom floor fountain for an orthodontist's office that was used as a room divider between two areas of practice. The possibilities are truly endless. Remember, with water features, you aren't just getting the benefit of their beauty, you are also providing the customers that walk into your dental office a relaxing experience the minute they step in the door. Rather than hearing the hustle and bustle of other patients, employees or children crying, they can sit and relax to the mesmerizing sounds of the water flowing down the fountain.
At Serenityhealth.com we help hundreds of dentists, doctors and many others select the perfect wall fountains for their business. Browse today and see if something fits your style or contact us to help you find the perfect custom water fountain! You won't be disappointed at the value a water feature will bring to the office.

It wouldn't be rude but noone would bother to read it. Post it if it makes you feel better.
I would post it!
I don't know if it would be rude or not but don't be surprised if it doesn't help at all. I used to work with the public and was amazed that no one ever read the signs.
They'll stop asking eventually anyways. That'll just decrease your business.
Some people get confused, for example, some people like hamburgers better than hotdogs. And some people put pickles on their hamburgers, but not me. But I do like some relish on my hotdog, and maybe some mustard and even a little bit of onion. But no relish is EVER GOING TO BE ALLOWED ON MY HAMBURGER!!! I don't even want pickle slices, or EVEN A PICKLE ON THE SIDE!!!
No,
it's informative.
funnily informative.
Is there a way you could find out where they moved? If so, why not do that and post a sign with their new address outside? I would NOT post the sign you described.
put a message saying the beauty school moved to an address of someone you dont like.
I don't think people would actually see the sign, no matter how big or prominent it is. That's just human nature.
If I did see such a sign, I would think that your business is being rude.
The questions will eventually stop. For now, how about just practicing a bit of patience and kindness.
why dont u find out where the school went and post the address instead
i'd post it if you didn't rely on customers who walk into your building on a daily basis.(but rater deal with them over the phone) but if you have a heavy flow of customers that come in and out, don't post it
It's not rude to post a sign about this, but the particular language you've chosen does come across as very rude and impatient, especially with the capital letters and exclamation points - you might as well add that they can go f*** themselves.
Ask the building management/landlord if they have a forwarding address for the beauty school, or see if you can get the name of the school and google it to find their new location. Then post that - "XYZ Beauty School has moved to 123 Main Street, Anytown, ST 12345." It will save you having to answer a lot of questions. Make a little effort now to save yourself a lot of annoyance in the future.
If you still can't find out where they are, just post: "Please note that the XYA Beauty School has moved without a forwarding address. Also, there is no medical office at this location. Thank you." At the bottom of the sign you can also post "No Soliciting" just for good measure.
Not at all. You have work to at your office. Your not responsible to tell people where the other businesses are.
nope, it wouldn't be rude, it would be very funny, lol
in Russia, in Moscow (I think) there was a sign that said "no, it's not a tourism agency
(and at the bottom) yes, we're often asked about it"
It wouldn't be rude, but it wouldn't be professional either.
People who are interested in your business may be turned off by the lack of professionalism expressed in that sign, especially with the spelling and grammatical errors.
You could post something, maybe not quite so blunt. Of course, it doesn't matter WHAT you post, there's always gonna be the idiot who will walk RIGHT PAST the sign and ask the same stupid questions.
In my opinion that would be a little rude, but you could post a sign that simply says "Beauty School has moved, address unknown." And I would put it on the door of the former school. Though it has been my experience that most people don't read signs of any kind.
I hope that helps.
I don't know what kind of business you are in. But if I approached your door to do business with you and saw a sign like that on the door, I would go someplace else. You really should work on your people skills.
I can tell you from experience that you can post that sign as big and as loud as you want and you will STILL get people comin in the door to ask you "where the beauty scool?" is.
Noone will read the sign. Or they'll read it and ask you anyway.
Just deal with it and answer them politely.
The people will slowly decline in numbers.
Are there signs still up for the beauty school? I'd hope not after two years!
Why not just put up a polite sign? It's not the same people coming over and over again, so there's no reason to be frustrated with them. Just put up a sign that says:
"Beauty school and doctor/dentist office closed/moved (addresses unknown)."
No... This is my thing... (2 dozen.... dozen NO... dozen Care)
dozen - as in does not
I would not put up any signs referencing the former business. Instead, identify your company name or business on the door and just deal with the illiterate people who come in and ask anyway.
People do NOT pay attention to signs! If they did, they would see the sign announcing what your business currently is!
If you do put up a sign word it more like this: "The beauty school that was here has moved and we do not know where they moved to. This is now Company X. Thank you!"
You have been patient and polite long enough, unfortunately whomever patronizes the former and/or current businesses near you are not very smart, so you will have to speak the language of BLUNT. I vote for the sign, it shouldn't take them long to get a clue.
Put up a sign that says something like No Admittance, Authorized Personnel Only... All others please use side door.
I was a traveling salesman (of sorts) for a while and I used to find factories and places that never had walk-in customers would do that all the time when there was NO side door. I always thought it was funny and creative.
